REF Permanent Colour

Formulated with strengthening quinoa protein and soothing aloe vera, Permanent Colour helps support strength, conditioning and shine while providing added comfort during the colour service. Quinoa protein contains naturally derived amino acids with a structure similar to the keratin found in hair, helping protect, strengthen and condition the fiber, while aloe vera provides moisturizing and soothing properties. REF’s olive-green neutral base is designed to support balanced tonal results and help colour fade more true to tone.

How to Use

For standard Permanent Colour applications, mix 1 part REF Permanent Colour with 1.5 parts REF Cream Developer. For example, combine 50g colour with 75g developer. Mix thoroughly in a non-metallic bowl using a plastic, nylon or silicone whisk until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved. REF recommends using a scale for accurate, repeatable formulations.

Select the developer according to the desired result:

• 6 VOL / 1.9%: Same-level or darker toning with no lift and light deposit; process approximately 5–30 minutes

• 10 VOL / 3%: Same level or darker with deeper deposit and grey coverage; process approximately 30–35 minutes

• 20 VOL / 6%: Provides approximately 1–2 levels of lift and is REF’s optimum choice for grey coverage; process approximately 30–35 minutes

• 30 VOL / 9%: Provides up to 3 levels of lift; process approximately 30–35 minutes

• 40 VOL / 12%: Provides up to 4 levels of lift; process approximately 30–35 minutes

REF does not recommend using heat during processing.

Under normal circumstances, apply Permanent Colour to unwashed, dry or towel-dried hair, protecting the skin around the hairline and determining processing time based on the client consultation, hair condition and desired result. Standard processing is approximately 30 minutes, while resistant hair may require up to 45 minutes. For regrowth applications, apply the selected Permanent Colour formula to the regrowth area; REF recommends using Soft Colour when refreshing previously coloured mid-lengths and ends to help maintain softness, shine and even colour results.
